Your baby is likely to be about 3/4 inch long.

In the ninth week of pregnancy, your baby’s tiny arms continue to grow, develop soft bones that bend at the elbows. Toes form, and your baby’s eyelids and ears continue developing.  The eyes may appear as dark round spots.

“You can barely tell but you can see the body structure. My baby is always in my heart. And in heaven with God.”

However you treated the least of my brothers or sisters, you treated me,” says the Lord.

Your baby is likely about 1/2 inch long.

Eight weeks into your pregnancy, your baby’s tiny arms and legs are growing longer, and fingers have begun to form. The shell-shaped parts of your baby’s ears also are forming, and your baby’s eyes may be visible as dark round spots. The upper lip and nose have formed. The trunk of your baby’s body is beginning to straighten.

Your baby is likely about the size of a blueberry.

Seven weeks into your pregnancy, tiny nostrils may become visible, and the eye lenses have just begun to form. The arm buds that sprouted last week now take on the shape of paddles.

“Lost Hope: My lost pregnancy was discovered on 1st regular ultrasound scan at 12-13 weeks. The empty sack of 6-7 weeks and of irregular shape was found and medical management was proposed. On the picture one can see the products of miscarriage including intact gestation sack (on the top). I would like to share this picture with all interested and doing this to give my baby the chance of new life (on the net).”

Your baby is likely about the size of a pea.

Just four weeks after conception, the neural tube along your baby’s back is closing and your baby’s heart is pumping blood.  Your baby is still too tiny to detect this pumping with medical equipment.  Your baby’s body begins to take on a C-shaped curvature with microscopic arm and leg buds.

By the end of this week, your baby is likely about the size of the tip of a pen.

Your baby is considered a “blastocyst”; by the time it reaches the uterus, the rapidly dividing ball of cells — right after conception was known as a zygote, but now already known as a blastocyst — has separated into two sections, and has implanted into your uterine wall. It is the inner group of cells that is considered your actual baby. The outer group of cells have begun to form the membranes of the placenta.  It is the detection of this microscopic, very early placenta which triggers hormonal changes and a positive pregnancy test.

In week 5, the inner group of cells, your actual baby, has divided into 3 layers; each of these layers are the foundation for particular body development.
