As an SBD speaker, you are authorized to present official stillbirthday approved workshops or other pre-approved presentations in your area!

Stillbirthday Speakers are assigned by specialty designations:
- Community Speaker – this emphasis is great for local, small circles such as doula groups, just to give a foundational information course of stillbirthday
- M0M/Journeys – this emphasis is on connecting with local moms and building support through healing
- Professionals – this emphasis is focused on teaching, which can be appropriate for groups of doulas, midwives, hospital staff, birthing centers
Suggested presentation ideas this affiliation can be applied toward:
- your presentation of our stillbirthday workshops
- other professional presentation on the subjects of birth and/or bereavement (CCD)
- establishing a birth preparation course for couples in your community, particularly for “subsequent/rainbow” pregnancies
- establishing a local stillbirthday healing circle or Journeys program – an ongoing bereaved mothers support group
To obtain this authorization, you must:
- have read and agree to the information here in the application form as well as the published Speakers accountability page that is accessible and observable by the general public.
- submit your proposal through the form below.
- have successfully completed our SBD doula training.
- remain in compliance with our Principles of Service, including but not limited to: upholding the highest integrity of the stillbirthday community, to include but not limited to: refraining from “borrowing” in any capacity, any photo or story without express written permission from its original author, incorporating any sources without credit, or speaking outside of the print or spirit of the Principles of Service.
- participate in a panel interview with Heidi Faith and the determining team via a Skype-like online conference.
- agree to a maximum of two events in processing/planning/pre-registration at a time. This ensures proper mental engagement to the process and prevents overextension. Too many presentations at once can turn out to simply have a lot of people disappointed, rather than the smaller number of people gaining much and seeking to bring the speaker back for more.
- agree to a maximum of 30 attendees per event, with 15 as the pre-registration security.
To obtain annual authorization renewal, you must:
- submit a letter of activity, noting goals you made and achieved through your previous approval.
- receive satisfactory and improving reviews via Workshop Feedback
- show proof of continued learning in birth and bereavement care through our pre-approved resources (given to you).
- be a member of our private SBD speakers group.
- submit application payment.
This authorization benefits you:
- stillbirthday is an internationally trusted comprehensive support resource network and certifying organization in professional birth and bereavement care.
- Once you are approved, stillbirthday reviews your syllabi for our three workshop formats and continues to mentor with you, preparing you to present your community with tested data and accurate information for bereaved mothers, medical/birth professionals, and your community at large. Our fully researched program provides a structured presentation format that encourages individual growth within each of your attendees through the essential elements of safety and belonging, as well as positive cognitive reframing. The program aspects of releasing tension, enjoying life, learning, appreciating others and expanding knowledge easily adapts to both violent and non-violent traumatic experiences any of your attendees may have encountered and includes both cognitive and psychomotor survivor activities, as well as resources to share with your attendees on trauma and grief. This program is designed to facilitate informed empathy and affirming, appropriate responses and care for bereavement.
- marketing, fundraising, hosting, and presenting ideas for your presentations are shared with you.
- the determining team can assist you in potential conflict resolution preparation for your workshops/presentations.
- exclusive discounts on the full SBD doula training (with opportunity for nursing contact hours), or other special incentives for your attendees (including raffle/door prize/takeaway items) may be made available to your workshop attendees. You may include a button on your promotional material linking your attendees to register for our online doula training program separately from their workshop registration while using our “full sponsorship” payment option – as a gift when they complete their workshop feedback.
- exclusive discounts on other special items may be made available to you and/or your workshop attendees.
- You must present stillbirthday approved books for our M0M and Birth Professionals workshops. These are our Immediate Decisions, Invisible Pregnancy and Supporting Birth & Bereavement as a Doula texts. They are provided at a discount to you. If you are not providing approved stillbirthday materials to your guests, your speaker privilege as a representative of stillbirthday will be revoked.
- success tips on the latest presentation, materials and content resources and information are shared with you.
- special markings to bear on your SBD doula page, the stillbirthday speakers page, marketing and presentation materials, verifying your approval status.
- potential for you to generate modest income while sharing trusted, factual and relevant information with your community.
Application fees:
- SBD Speaker Team Member, first full calendar year (approval date begins on the first of the nearest month) – $85.
- SBD Speaker Team Member, annual renewal – $50.
All applications must include payment to be considered. Applications not approved will receive a total refund less $35 processing.
Ideas Worth Considering:
- If all of this seems overwhelming, remember that as an SBD graduate, you have the opportunity to grow your local team through our Partnership option, outlined in the training material.
- If you’ll like to start by first hosting an event, another speaker can present at your first event.
- Attend a private Presenters Training led by the CSO or founder, and receive a $35 reimbursement of original application fee.
NSE Events:
- If you have an event you’ll like your stillbirthday colleagues to know about, and your event meets the following criteria, please visit with our CSO, so that you can acquire advertising opportunities:
Non-stillbirthday-endorsed (NSE) events, gatherings or promotions that include any manner of for-profit, including suggested donation or offering.
What Non-Endorsement (NSE) Means:
- NSE events are those that are not endorsed by stillbirthday, but which someone wants to lean into the stillbirthday platform for gaining audience and/or attendance, for any profit, expressed or suggested. The CSO reserves the right to determine fair pricing agreements in accordance with SBD POS, and to edit or remove postings or other participation of an advertisement/promotion nature that are not within NSE criteria.
